How it all started...

We are Jason & Christa Butler, owners of Preservation Company. We absolutely love architecture, historic places, and timeless pieces. Jason, a homebuilder, has remodeled homes for 20 years with our building business, Butler Builders, here in Huntsville, AL. His love for historic home restoration and his artistry in adding unique architectural pieces to his projects is what sparked the dream of opening our very own architectural salvage store. We began to imagine our own store back in 2007.

We hoped for a place that each of our children could grow up learning the in's and out's of business & enjoy the satisfaction of seeing ideas come to life. Where each one could contribute something. We began to actively collect in 2014 hoping that one day we'd find the perfect, historic location to set up shop. In 2016, the dream began to become reality & we purchased the historic, 1927, Lincoln Commissary building in downtown Huntsville & began an extensive, heartfelt, memory making, over a year-long restoration project! Our family practically lived there towards the end of the project while setting up displays & working on getting everything just right. 

On November 16th, 2017 we, with the help of kind friends, family & employees somehow made our goal to open up & had our Grand Opening! We were welcomed by the community with open arms & in January 2018 even won Downtown Huntsville's "Project of the Year".  

Now, Preservation Company has been open for 2 years & we are still just as excited to bring our ever growing collection of architectural pieces, vintage goods, furniture, art & gifts to the Southeast & beyond. We invite you & yours to come & experience the Preservation Company!
